Are Clubs Poised for a Surge of Younger Members?

Private clubs are expected to thrive as Generation X and millennials come of age and seek relationships in a socially fragmented world, say industry experts. Top clubs in New York have seen membership boosts from younger generations, as is the case at Montauk Club where the focus has shifted toward providing events and forming connections. “Clubs will have to work hard to achieve balance and weigh the different preferences and priorities of three generations of members: millennials, Generation X and baby boomers,” says Henry Wallmeyer, National Club Association President & CEO. OZY.

Despite concerns over popularity and injury risk, high intensity interval training remains the top fitness trend in 2018, according to the American College of Sports Medicine. Golf Measuring Different Golf Balls for Different Needs

Last PGA season, 43 golfers hit drives of 300 yards or more, on average. In 1996 that number was zero, rendering some courses obsolete and leading golf industry leaders to consider adjusting the performance of golf balls to better fit the course and the skills of players. Governing golf bodies are contemplating letting courses, clubs and other golf groups to decide which golf balls are best for their fairways, including using a tennis ball-sized golf ball to help kids learn the game. The Wall Street Journal.

How the Country Club of Buffalo Redefined Itself Through Dining

The Country Club of Buffalo has revamped its $2.1 million food and beverage operation to provide a more casual dining experience and match member preferences. The club updated and relocated its bar to create a more open space and accommodate growing member demand, added a bar and televisions in its former formal social area and renovated its terrace and other rooms.
