The NGCOA Mid-Atlantic, representing owners and operators of golf clubs throughout Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., has announced that its official business operations will transition to NGCOA National beginning in 2026. Member clubs across the region will continue to receive comprehensive support and services through the national office.
The Mid-Atlantic affiliate was founded on January 1, 2009, as NGCOA Virginia, with a board representing a wide range of club types and geographic areas. In 2014, the association expanded to include Maryland and Washington, D.C., adopting the name NGCOA Mid-Atlantic to reflect its broader reach.
For many years, the regional affiliate complemented the strong suite of services provided by NGCOA National, including the Accelerate online community, the Golf Business Conference, TechCon, the Multi-Course Owners Retreat, Women’s Golf Day, and comprehensive national advocacy led by a full-time government relations team. Regionally, NGCOA Mid-Atlantic delivered additional value through its annual fall education, golf, and networking event, while also monitoring issues such as property tax assessments, water regulations, and sales tax policies affecting owners and operators.
In recent years, the sustained growth and stability of the golf industry—particularly following the post-COVID surge in participation- prompted the board to conduct a strategic review to ensure the association remained aligned with its members' evolving needs. With many facilities reporting fewer operational challenges and stronger economic performance, the board determined that consolidating administrative and operational functions with NGCOA National would create a more efficient, unified, and sustainable structure moving forward.
Throughout 2025, the board engaged member facilities, analyzed long-term trends, and thoroughly evaluated the regional organization’s role in the changing golf landscape. Following this review, the board unanimously concluded that transitioning to National would best position clubs in the region for continued success.
“We are proud of the 17 years of service and impact we’ve had across the Mid-Atlantic,” the board stated. “Our partnership with Norman & Associates has been exceptional, and their professionalism and dedication played a significant role in the association’s success.”
As NGCOA Mid-Atlantic prepares to formally conclude operations early in Q1, the board emphasized that support for the region will continue through the national structure. “Our remaining assets are being returned to NGCOA National with the intention that they be used to support initiatives benefiting our region. National is well-positioned to carry forward our mission, and we encourage all clubs to participate in the upcoming Golf Business Conference in Orlando.”
